QAWIYAH
Emerging from the battlefields of 16th-century Morocco, Tbourida is an equestrian tradition where troupes charge in unison, then suddenly halt to fire gunpowder-filled rifles. Whilst teams navigate danger, at its core Tbourida is a storied and spiritual practice: teams pray before competing, histories are stitched in the saddles, and riders carry a miniature Qur'an.
This work counters stereotypical assumptions about Moroccan women and recognises their courage and agency as they claim their place in a tradition that, until recently,
banned them from taking part.

Tash is a New Zealand-born photographer who makes stories to move people. Her work moves fluidly between documentary and advertising, carried by a quiet, inclusive energy that builds trust and allows genuine moments to unfold - whether she's shooting for brands and agencies, or following her curiosity into the personal projects that fire her. She's the kind of photographer who will learn to say a few words in a stranger's language before she ever lifts the camera, believing that connection comes first and the image follows - that emotion should be felt, not explained.
